Katrina Kaif-A Meteoric Rise

After the marriage of Ashwariya Rai with Abhishek Bachhan there was some unexplained decline in the popularity of Ash “the most beautiful woman on earth”. It appeared that probably Deepika Padukone will fill the void. But quite unexpectedly it was Katrina Kaif that became suddenly popular. Today she is dominating the scene in films and in advertisements on TV and print media all over India.

Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong to a Kashmiri Muslim father, Mohammed Kaif, and a British Christian mother, Suzanne. Her mother, a Harvard graduate, was a lawyer but later became involved in charity work. Her parents separated when Kaif was very young. She was raised in Hawaii and later moved to her mother's home country, England. At the age of fourteen she was approached by an agent and began modeling; her first job was for a jewelry campaign. She continued modeling in London.

Kaif's London modeling work led to her discovery by filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a part in his film Boom (2003). She moved to Mumbai and was offered a number of modeling assignments. However, filmmakers were initially hesitant to sign her because she could not speak Hindi.

In 2009 two more of her films are in line for release ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani’ and ‘De Dana Dan’. In 2010 the remake of ‘Padosan’ and ‘Rajneeti’ are expected to be released. Rajneeti is being produced by Director Praksh Jha with Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgan, Manoj Vajpayee, Nana Patekar and others. Several portions of the film Rajneeti have been shot in Bhopal and even I appear in one or two frames of this film in crowded scenes. Please wait for a full post on this film from me when film will be nearing its release next year.

Dear friends, presently my favorite bollywood star is Priyanka Chopra but the way Katrina Kaif is becoming popular she is the one to watch for in coming months and probably in coming years as well?
